14U GOLD

The streak goes on!  A pair of doubleheader  sweeps over the weekend have taken 14 Gold’s win streak to ten straight, although two of the four wins were nail biters.

Seadogs 10, Watertown Jr. Reds 7

After getting out to an early 6-1 lead, the Dogs had to battle to maintain a piece of their lead.  Tommy Larason (Norwell) went 5-for-5, scored three times and drove in a pair to lead the offense while Mason Johnson (Norwell) went the first five innings to earn the win and run his record to 5-0.  Casey Rasak (Kingston) and Chris DeGiacomo (Norwell) worked in relief with DeGiacomo getting a save.  Sam Moor (Taunton) and Kyle Lussier (Hingham) each had two hits and an RBI as contributors to the win.

Sam Moor
was the most significant contributor both offensively and defensively in the nightcap.  Moor threw a complete game, three hit shutout for the victory.  He also led off the second inning with a double to the gap in left-center, stole third and scored what turned out to be the only run of the game on Casey Rasak’s RBI single one out later.

Seadogs 5, Waltham Jr. Hawks 4

Kyle Lussier
ran down a line drive in deep RF that was destined for extra bases in the top of the seventh inning, but the Dogs still went to the bottom of the inning trailing, 4-3, and needing a hero.  With two down and the bases loaded Mason Johnson lined a shot into the gap in left-center to score Matt Cunningtham (Weymouth) with the tying run and Chris DeGiacomo with the game-winner.  Jack O’Reilly (Abington) was a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI. Cunningham was 3-for-4 with a double and DeGiacomo and Johnson both had two hits.

Seadogs 10, Waltham Jr. Hawks 1

Alex Greco (Hamilton) complete game three-hitter highlighted the tenth straight Gold win.  Tommy Larason was 3-for-4 in support while Greco, Nick Chapman (Easton), and Joe Lindsay (Hingham) each drove in two runs and Jack O’Reilly and Mario Picariello (Weymouth) both had a pair of knocks.

Kylar Macoratti

12U GOLD

The 12U GOLDS won three straight.

Seadogs 16, Wildcats 6

Pete Lagrotteria (Scituate) had three hits and Mike Knell (Dennisport) added two, including his fourth home run of the season, to lead the Dogs over the Wildcats. Mike Burgess (Abington) pitched three strong innings of relief to pick up his second win. Chris Pellegrino (Norwell) and Ben October (Marshfield) both added a pair of hits to the fourteen hit attack.

Seadogs 9, Atlantic Mariners MERRITT 2

Brennan Quigley (Braintree) led the offense with three hits and was aided by two apiece from Francis Kokoros (Braintree), Joe Ferracane (Quincy) and Kylar Macoratti (Sagamore) in an eleven hit onslaught. Mike Knell was the complete game winner on the mound.

Seadogs 11, Atlantic Mariners MERRITT 9

The Dogs scored nine times over the final two innings to pull out a dramatic comeback win over the Mariners. Winning pitcher Kylar Macoratti’s three hits and three strong innings of relief were key elements. Joe Ferracane’s two run double in the sixth was the clinching blow. Pete Lagrotteria, Mike Knell and Ferracane each had two hits.

13U

The 13U squad salvaged their weekend with a win in East Hartford on Sunday morning as they played their finest baseball game of the season.

Team Connecticut Baseball 6, Seadogs 3

TCB was aided by sloppy Seadogs defense as they jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and cruised to the opening win on Saturday at Strong Field. Trevor Cooley (Randolph) went the distance for the Seadogs. Brian Panasuk (East Bridgewater) had two hits.

Team Connecticut Baseball 12, Seadogs 2

TCB’s eleven hit attack tallied nine runs over the second, third and fourth frames and they dominated game two on Saturday. Drew Alexopoulos (Hanson) had two hits in defeat while Tommy Gillan (Scituate) made his Seadogs pitching debut in relief.

Seadogs 7, Team Connecticut Baseball 3

Andrew Glynn (Whitman) and Drew Alexopoulos combined on the mound in this nine inning game, taking a shutout into the eighth inning and hanging on for the win. Together they scattered eleven hits with only two walks as the Dogs defense had it’s best outing of the season. Outstanding defensive plays were turned in by catcher Robert Carmody (Canton), shortstop Patrick Rafferty (Pembroke) and thirdbaseman Trevor Cooley. Meanwhile, Cooley led the way offensively (3 for 4, 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 2 runs) with help from Alexopoulos (2 for 5, 2 doubles, RBI, run) and Panasuk (2 for 5, double, run).

10U BLUE

After an opening win on Saturday, the 10U BLUES dropped three straight.

Seadogs 12, River Dogs 0

The bats were working earlier as Jack Clougherty (Hingham) lead the way with three hits and John Tellier (Braintree) and Sam Gray (Rockland) each had two hits. Tellier extended his scoreless innings streak on the mound pitching four solids innings with six strike outs in the Run Rule shortened game.

River Dogs 7, Seadogs 3

Adam Berthelot (Braintree) and Quentin Woolf (Norwell) pitched well in the loss. Too many fielding errors put the Seadogs behind. Henry Butterfield (Hingham) and Charlie Devin (Cohasset) were solid in the field.

Spinners 14, Seadogs 4

The Spinners jumped out to an early six run lead. Despite home runs by Sam Gray and John Tellier the Seadogs couldn’t claw their way back into it.

Spinners 3, Seadogs 2 (8 Innings )

Kevin Mc Govern (Hingham) pitched five innings, striking out eight. The Seadogs made play after play, none of which was better than a diving catch by shortstop Henry Butterfield in the bottom of the 6th with the game tied and men on.  The Spinners were able to push across a run in the eighth inning to earn the victory.
