13U BLUES Take Three of Four!

Ruffnecks 9, Seadogs 0
The Seadogs experienced a tough start to the weekend losing the opener of a four game series with NEBA rivals, the Ruffnecks, 9-0 at Babson College’s Govoni Field. The Dogs were limited to just three hits and had just one runner reach third base.
Seadogs 9, Ruffnecks 8
The Seadogs rallied for five in the second inning, added one in the third and two more in the fourth and Tommy Larason started and went five strong innings, allowing just one earned run and striking out five for the win. Ruffnecks rallied for five runs in the sixth against the bullpen, but Nick Chapman came on in the seventh to earn the save. Mason Johnson went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and Larason and Robbie Robinson both drove in a pair of runs in the win.

Steve Cochrane came up with a strong effort on the mound in the opener of Sunday’s doubleheader at the Rivers School in Weston. Cochrane had a no-hitter through six-and-a-third and struck out eight, but needed late help from Nick Chapman who came on to strike out the final hitter with the tying run at second. Robbie Robinson, AJ Ferrara and Tommy Larason each had RBI’s for the Seadogs with Larason’s RBI single in the sixth scoring Robinson with the eventual game-winner.

Lefty starter Matt Daly provided the Seadogs with the weekend’s third consecutive strong pitching effort allowing just one earned run in five innings as the ‘Dogs won their third straight one run game. Nick Chapman came on again to earn his third save in as many games working two shutout innings, allowing just one hit to nail down the victory. Daly contributed to his mound victory by going 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI and both AJ Ferrara and Mason Johnson had 2-for-3 days.
Seadogs 1, Team Connecticut 0
Ace Kyle Sylvester went five scoreless innings and Kayden McSheffrey struck out two in the 6th for the save. In a true pitchers duel the Seadogs only scored 1 run on 4 hits, but thats all they would need. In the third inning a Luke Murphy triple followed by a Matt Hatfield RBI single scored the lone run. Sylvester and James Dolan had the other two hits.
Seadogs 6, Team Connecticut 5
Sam Gray pitched into the fifth inning to earn his first win as a Seadog. James Sneyd and Kayden McSheffrey (save) came out of the pen to secure the victory. A 2 run double by Jack Clougherty in the 3rd gave the Seadogs the lead. Nate Robards and Kayden McSheffrey each had a pair of hits.
Royals Academy 6, Seadogs 5
Will Morganelli had two hits on the day. Starter James Sneyd (4 K) pictched well for the Seadogs.

Seadogs got excellent starting pitching from Matt Hatfield but could only muster five hits. Two of the hits came from the bat of Kyle Sylvester.
Seadogs 2, Mizuno CARDINAL 1
Steve Burke’s solo homerun in the top of the seventh broke a 1-1 tie and proved to be enough for complete game winner Sam D’Antuono (7 IP, 5 H, 6 K’s, 2 BB’s).
Mizuno CARDINAL 17, Seadogs 15
The Dogs battled back from an eleven run deficit to put a scare into Mizuno before coming up on the short end. Ryan O’Donnell, Matt Brazel and John Carlson all homered for the Seadogs.
Spartans 14, Seadogs 4
Matt Brazel went three for three and Ryan O’Donnell added two more hits but the Spartans pounded their way to victory.
Spartans 11, Seadogs 6
O’Donnell (3 for 4), Carlson (3 for 4) and Brazel (2 for 4) continued to swing hot bats for the Seadogs. However, the Spartans offense was too much.
Wildcats 15, Seadogs 13
The Wildcats survived the nine inning slugfest at Mercer Field on Saturday. Owen Leary had three hits and two RBI and also pitched four strong innings of relief.
Hit Doctor Diamonds 7, Seadogs 6
A three run Seadogs sixth tied the game before the HDD scored in the bottom frame to walk-off with the win. Kylar Macoratti (5 K’s, 2 BB’s) pitched well in defeat while Patrick Santorella collected a pair of hits and Owen Leary added a triple.
Hit Doctor Diamonds 13, Seadogs 3
The HDD jumped out to a quick lead and never looked back. Owen Leary had a double and a triple to lead the Seadogs offense. Patrick Santorella added two hits and Ted Carnes played very well at shortstop.
Ruffnecks 7, Seadogs 5
Ricky Smith pitched six strong innings and added a two-run homer. Brendan Pierce’s RBI single in the sixth gave the Dogs a lead that they could not hold. Ethan Forrest and Steve Gerhart were outstanding defensively.

Ryan Jones pitched a great game but the Seadogs’ offense wasn’t enough. Brendan Collins was on base three times with a single, double and a walk.
Ruffnecks 13, Seadogs 2
An eight run third inning blew things open in this mercy shortend game. Ricky Smith (2 for 3, long double, 2 steals) and Brendan Pierce (2 run single) provided Seadog highlights.
Quincy Redstockings BLUE 5, Seadogs 4
The Redstockings plated four runs in the bottom of the fourth and held off Seadogs’ rallies to win the opener. TJ Keefe (2 doubles, 2 runs), Will Spring (3 for 4, double) and James Conley (2 RBI) led the Seadogs offense.
Quincy Redstockings BLUE 7, Seadogs 5
Trailing 5-1 in the fifth, the Dogs rallied behind doubles from Keefe, David Erwin and Spring and an RBI single by Josh Ryan to tie things up. The Redstockings responded with two in the sixth to complete the sweep in some competetive 10 year old baseball. David Erwin had three hits and and also pitched four strong innings. Spring, Patrick Tevenan and Andrew Snape all chimed in with a pair of hits.

Seadogs 7, Rhode Island Rays 5
Seadogs Mike Reilly and Trent Cooley worked hard to take the sting out of the Rays bats. Together the pitching tandem scatterd seven hits, struck out six and allowed five runs en route to the win. Clutch hitting was the name of the games as the Seadogs scored seven times with only eleven base runners. Shane Curran picked up two of the Dogs six hits in the game.
Rhode Island Rays 11, Seadogs 2
The Rays came out of the gate strong with ten runs in the first two innings. Eliot Hillstrand pitched the 3rd – 6th and held the Rays to just one more run thanks in large measure to great team defense and a couple of web-gems by Trent Cooley at second base and Shane Curran at first. Rays pitching got the job done holding the Seadogs to just four hits including a missle launched by Griffin Burke landing about 250 feet from home plate on railroad tracks beyond the center field fence.
Blackstone Valley Spinners 13, Seadogs 7
The bats were alive for both teams with Seadogs collecting eleven hits and the Spinners roughing up Seadog pitching for thirteen. Griffin Burke hit his second monster home run in as many days depositing one well over the 250 foot fence at Mercer Field. Francis Kokoros and Shane Curran also had two hits a piece.
Blackstone Valley Spinners 16, Seadogs 11
Seadogs could not quiet the Spinners bats in this one giving up five extra base hits and sixteen runs. The game was in reach until the last inning but the Dogs simply could not find their way to the lead. Griffin Burke continued his blistering hitting streak (10 for 15 with two HRs – in the last six games) with another three hit performance.
