14U GOLDS Win a Pair!

14U GOLD

The 14U GOLD squad swept the Mizuno CARDINAL twice on Sunday by identical 9-5 scores.

Seadogs 9, Mizuno CARDINAL 5

Winning pitcher Sam D’Antuono allowed just five hits as he got offensive support from Matt Brazel (3 for 4), John Carlson (2 for 3) and Ryan O’Donnell (2 for 4). D’Antuono added two hits himself.

Colin Jones belted a three run homerun, securing game two. Winning pitcher John Carlson had three hits while Ryan O’Donnell added two more. Jones also came on in relief to close things out in the seventh.

13U BLUE

The 13U BLUES won two of three in the NEBA Tournament and were rained out during a game with the USA Mavericks. This game has playoffs implications.

Team Connecticut Blaze 12, Seadogs 1

Facing the top seed in their opening round of pool play in the NEBA championship tournament, the Seadogs were overly generous in spotting TCB an eight run lead in the first inning largely due to six walks, five of which ended up scoring.

 

Seadogs 12, Ruffnecks 11

The ‘Dogs survived four first inning errors and three more in the seventh to eke out their first tournament win with Matt Daly delivering the decisive blow with a bases loaded/bases clearing double in a seven run fifth inning that turned an 8-2 deficit into a 9-8 lead. Nick Valicenti had a 3-for-4 day with a double and 2 RBI, A.J. Ferrara knocked in single runs in each of his two ABs and Nick Chapman and Stephen Cochrane each contributed to the power surge with a pair of base-hits. Big David Hutchins came on to work the final three innings on the mound and earn the win surviving three more errors in the final inning by blowing strike three past the final hitter with the tying run ninety feet away for the 12-11 win.
Seadogs 14, Worcester Heat 4

A tight one run ball game with the Heat went lop-sided when the Seadogs ran nine runs across the plate in the top of the 5th. Tommy Larason started, went four strong innings for the “W” and was one of four ‘Dogs with a pair of “knocks”. Larason and A.J. Ferrara were both 2-for-4 and scored twice, while David Hutchins was 2-for-2 with four big RBI and Stephen Cochrane was 2-for-3 with two ribbies as the Seadogs went to 2-1 in pool play in the Northeast Baseball Alliance championship tournament in Worcester.

10U BLUE

On Sunday the Seadogs took two from Mizuno 6-5 and 4-1.

Seadogs 6, Mizuno 5

Kyle Sylvester went five innings for the win as the Seadogs came back from a 4-0 deficit. Kayden McSheffrey pitched a scoreless 6th with 2 K’s for the save. Sylvester and McSheffrey each had two hits each. Nate Robards, Will Morganelli, Gavyn White, Sam Gray and Andrew Corbett all had big hits.

James Sneyd got the victory pitching into the 6th inning. Kayden McSheffrey finished the game off with his second save of the day. Will Morganelli and Sylvester each had a pair of hits.

 

12U

The 12U Seadogs bounced back with two wins over the Lightning on Sunday after dropping a pair in Rhode Island Saturday night against the On Deck Circle.

On Deck 10, Seadogs 1

Chris Ferraro had the lone Seadogs hit leading off the fifth as On Deck scored seven times in the second and pounded out 13 hits in the win.

On Deck 9, Seadogs 4

The Dogs had their chances but could not get the big hit in bases loaded situations in both the fourth and fifth innings. On Deck scored four times in the top of the sixth to create breathing room. Justin Fein (3 for 3, 2 SB’s), Drew Alexopoulos (2 for 3) and Austin Barkas (2 for 3) led the offense.

 

Seadogs 8, Lightning 6

Trailing 5-1 in the second, the Dogs scored three runs on a bases loaded wild pitch to cut the gap to 5-4 in what proved to be the biggest play of the game. With two outs the ball got away and scored Chris Ferraro on a close play at home. As the ball trickled toward the pitcher’s mound, Raul Morales wheeled in from second and barely scored on another close play. As the ball again trickled away, the ever aggressive and alert Justin Fein never hesitated and scored on the closest of the three plays at home. The game winning fifth inning rally included a leadoff Fein double, a Trevor Cooley RBI single and a two run Brian Panasuk double. Zack DelVecchio was the winning pitcher in a complete game effort.

 

Seadogs 11, Lightning 10

Trevor Cooley’s two run, two out sixth inning double tied the game before the Seadogs emerged victorious in the eighth. Austin Barkas threw 5 1/3 innings of two hit relief for the win and also hit a long leadoff double to start the fifth inning rally. Chris O’Brien added two long RBI doubles. Tablesetters Fein and Alexopoulos each scored three runs.

 

14U BLUE

The 14U BLUES won one of three in the NEBA Tournament.

Ruffnecks 11, Seadogs 0

On Friday night, the lone hit for the Seadogs came from Ethan Forrest, who also had a steal. Andrew Scheim chipped in with two steals.

Worcester Heat 9, Seadogs 3

Ricky Smith pithced five solid innings for the Seadogs, who had the lead for four innings, but the Worcester Heat were too tough near the end, bunching together four runs in the 5th. Smith also went 2-3 at the plate with a double and an RBI. James Lawless went 3-3 with a double and a run scored.

Seadogs 8, Dugout Dawgs 4

Matt Barry pitched five solid innings for the win with Joe Walsh registering the save, combining to give up only six hits. Barry (2 for 3, 2 runs, 2 SB’s, RBI), also shined at the plate. Ricky Smith (3 for 3, LONG triple, 2 runs, 2 SB’s), Joe Commesso (3 big RBIs), Brendan Pierce (2 hits and 2 runs) and Andrew Scheim (great suicide squeeze) all contributed to the offense in this full-team effort to end the weekend.

 

 

10U GOLD

The 10U GOLDS dropped a pair of close, well pitched games to the Hit Doctor Diamonds GREEN on Saturday.

Hit Doctor Diamonds GREEN 3, Seadogs 2

Luke Buckovich pitched well for the Seadogs, departing with a 2-1 lead after five. The Hit Doctors tied it in the bottom of the sixth and won it in the seventh. TJ Keefe had the only two Seadog hits, one of which was a triple.

Hit Doctor Diamond GREEN 4, Seadogs 2

Again the Seadogs were held to two hits, one by Keefe and the other by Alex Kennedy. Keefe provided 3 1/3 inning of solid relief.

 

 

11U GOLD

Mizuno CARDINAL 6, Seadogs 2

A four run first sent the Mizuno CARDINAL on the their way to the opening win on Saturday. Starter Nate Curley fell victim to defensive lapses. Mike Burgess fanned four in two innings of relief work. Chris Pellegrino had a triple and Ted Carnes added a double.

Seadogs 7, Mizuno CARDINAL 6

Patrick Santorella pitched a complete game and added a pair of hits as the Dogs claimed a much need victory. Trevor Layden, Carnes and Chris Knight all chimed in with key hits.

 

Rhode Island Rays 8, Seadogs 2

Josh Dubois pitched well in relief and also banged out a triple as the Dogs well to a strong RI Rays team.

 

Rhode Island Rays 14, Seadogs 4

The Rays scored thirteen times in the third inning. Nolan Dransfield and Kylar Macoratti collected the two Seadogs hits.

 

13U GOLD

Baystate Bulldogs 9, Seadogs 1

The Seadogs bats were silent in a 9-1 loss. Charlie Blackington’s strong relief pitching, and two hits and a diving catch from Michael Pitten were the Dogs only highlights.

Baystate Bulldogs 6, Seadogs 5

Alex Greco threw six strong innings, and the Seadogs rallied for four runs in the bottom of the 6th, but fell 6-5. Geoff Stillman and Charley Michalowski paced the Seadogs offense with two hits each.
