David Erwin’s RBI singled helped the Dogs to a 3-0 first inning lead as they gained a split with a game two victory. Catcher Alex Kennedy had a great all around game. He blocked balls, gunned down a would-be basestealer at second and made a great tag play at the plate. He also had two doubles, two RBI and scored three times. TJ Keefe and Will Spring each had a pair of hits. Reliever Kevin McGovern was outstanding on the mound, fanning seven batters in three innings of work.
Connecticut Capitals 9, Seadogs 8
The host Capitals used some good hitting and aggressive baserunning to run off with the opening game win.
Seadogs 4, Seadogs 3
Winning pitcher Ryan Corcoran (5 IP, 4 Hits, 8 K’s) was supported by a solo homerun from Mike Reilly as the Dogs took the second game. Trevor Cooley pitched the sixth and got the save. Ryan Verrier had a key RBI single in the fourth and also made two fine defensive plays in the outfield in the sixth. Collin Murphy doubled and scored the game winner in the fifth.
