South Shore Baseball Battery Club 2008-2009

The South Shore Baseball Club's BATTERY CLUB is designed for pitchers and catchers who want to learn and work on the finer points of baseball's most important positions.


Young Hurlers

The BATTERY CLUB will be held in three different age groups with specific sessions being held for LITTLE LEAGUE, BABE RUTH LEAGUE and HIGH SCHOOL pitchers.

The LITTLE LEAGUE SESSION (for ages 8-12) will take place three separate times, with the first beginning in November. The other two will be in February and April. COST is $175 for Non Members and $150 for current SSBC Members.

The BABE RUTH LEAGUE BATTERY CLUB (ages 13-15) will take place just before the season in March and will be held for four consecutive Saturdays. COST is $175 for Non Members and $150 for current SSBC Members.

The HIGH SCHOOL session will also be a pre-season primer, running on Monday and Thursday nights just prior to the start of High School tryouts. Players must currently be in the ninth grade or above. We will accept only the first twenty pitchers to register. COST is $200 for Non Members and $175 for current SSBC Members.

Group size is limited to assure personalized instruction by our staff of professional instructors who will emphasize the following points:

PITCHING

  • Mechanics from both the wind-up and the stretch
  • Strategy and pitch selection
  • Different grips and their effect on the ball
  • Fielding your position
  • Pick-off moves
  • Attitude necessary to be a successful pitcher

Catchers at Work

CATCHING

  • Proper receiving and throwing techniques
  • Pitch selection and strategies
  • Blocking low pitches
  • Overall catching strategy
