15U

The 15U Seadogs had a total team effort to win the Cape Cod Wood Bat event at Nauset High School, winning 5 of 6 games.

Seadogs 3, RI Tides 1

Clint Bylo fanned six and allowed just four hits in a complete game effort in the opener on Friday.

Seadogs 5, USA Mavericks 2

Later Friday, Matt O'Connor battled some wildness, but hurled five hitless innings for the win. Craig Hanley had two hits and Lyndon Brundige made a key diving catch in leftfield, stranding two runners in the third.

Seadogs 2, NE Navigators 0

Bobby Melley dominated the Navigators on the mound in Saturday's first game, facing just three batters over the minimum. Only two Navigators reached second base.

Doug Carroll Bulldogs 6, Seadogs 5

At 3-0 and having clinched a spot in the semi-finals, the Dogs saved some pitching resources and sent seldom used, Seadog veteran (catcher, firstbaseman) Dan King to the mound. King tossed five solid innings and left with a 5-2 lead before the Bulldogs battled back to win.

Seadogs 10, NE Ruffnecks 9

In a wild semi-final on Sunday, the Dogs held on for the win. Clint Bylo came back on short rest, tossing three innings for the save. Tim Sullivan had three singles while Dave Podurgiel, Connor Bryant , Brian McCloud and Dan King had a pair of hits each. The biggest hit of the game turned out to be McCloud's sixth inning, two out, bases loaded, two run single which stretched the lead to 10-6.

Seadogs 4, NE Lightning 1

A combined pitching effort by Kevin Ballerini (3 IP) and Connor Bryant (4 IP) closed out the championship. The Dogs runs came by way of a Craig Hanley third inning RBI single, a two-run single in the sixth by Bobby Melley and a sixth inning suicide squeeze from Kevin Ballerini. Joe Presti made a great, over the shoulder catch in left for the first out in the seventh.

"It was a great effort by just about everybody," gushed Coach Steve King. "I'm really happy for the boys."
