13U BLUE

The 13U BLUES improved to 8-0 with a sweep of the NE Firebirds on Sunday.

Seadogs 4, Firebirds 2

The Seadogs beat two very good Firebirds pitchers with excellent pitching of their own and their usual excellent defense and aggressive baserunning. Donny May pitched five scoreless innings and Joey Guarino picked up the save in relief.

Seadogs 7, Firebirds 3

Vinny Scifo worked four very strong innings on the mound and also drove in the winning run in the sixth with a rocket double into the right-center gap. Sammy Falkson and Kevin Murphy were great in relief of Scifo. Offensively, Johnny Adams grinded out two multiple pitch at-bats, one which finally drove in a run with a groundout and the other a walk that turned out to be the winning run. After returning from injury, Sean Heelen made his Seadog debut a memorable one, gunning down three would-be base stealers from his catcher position.

 

11U BLUE


Dylan Russo

The 11U Seadogs Blue opened the season with a doubleheader sweep, 9-4 and 14-1, over the Boston Junior Rams in a Super Division clash at Gifford Park in Weymouth on Sunday.

Seadogs 9, Boston Junior Rams 4

Austin Salkind had the key hit for the ‘Dogs, a two out, bases loaded double in a seven run fourth inning that broke open what had been a tight 2-2 ball game. Salkind finished with 4 rbi for the game, going two-for-three and scoring twice. Other offensive contributors included Cam Walsh (2-for-3, R) and Matt Cunningham (2-for-2, 2B, RBI, R). Gino LaRossa worked three innings of relief to get the win allowing just one hit and striking out six.

Seadogs 14, Boston Junior Rams 1

In the second game, the Dogs jumped to a 6-1 lead after two innings and broke it open with an eight run third to coast to a “slaughter rule” shortened, 14-1 win after four innings. Dylan Russo sparked the win in the nightcap with two RBI, one on a double that was scorched down the left field line in the eight run third inning. Russo was also the Seadogs’ starter and winner, working two innings and wrapping up his outing by striking out the last five hitters he faced. Johnny Cuomo scored all three times he went to the plate on a pair of walks and a single and had two rbi. Johnny Rorke was two-for-three and scored twice, and Matt Cunningham had his second straight two hit effort with a double, single and an RBI in three trips. Rorke and Mike Callendar each worked one inning or scoreless relief.

 

13U GOLD

The 13U GOLDS captured a tie and a win in a Sunday doubleheader with the Royals Baseball Academy at Strong Field.

Seadogs 4, Royals 4

A Rob Madden seventh inning single plated Mark Poli with the tying run in the opener. Brody Loughlin, Brendan Craven and MJ Lenane shared mound duties in this well pitched game. Drew Saltmarsh, Madden and Loughlin each had a pair of hits. .

Seadogs 5, Royals 1

Trailing 1-0, the Dogs erupted with five runs in the fifth led by Danny White's base hit and aggressive baserunning. Southpaw Rob Madden tossed four strong innings to lead the way. Poli and Saltmarsh were outstanding in relief. Justin Moy shined defensively at thirdbase.

 

 

12U BLUE

The 12U BLUE Seadogs topped the NE Ruffnecks twice on Sunday at Putnam/Mercer in Norwood.

Seadogs 8, Ruffnecks 1

Starter Jesse Feldstein (5 IP, 0 H, 7 K's) tossed five strong innings and added a pair of hits. The steady Dogs' offense included a pair of hits also from Will O'Sullivan and Andrew Haser.

Seadogs 14, Ruffnecks 4

Coley Barker went four for four and scored four runs to lead a strong offensive attack. Andrew Jaehing, Sean Scales and Will O'Sullivan added three hits each. The ever-versatile Ethan Forrest was stellar in centerfield.

 

12U GOLD

The 12U GOLDS split with the Whitman Panthers on Sunday.

Panthers 7, Seadogs 3

The Dogs mustered just two hits (Carlson, Callahan) against hard throwing Panther Murray in the opening defeat. Starter Alex Berluti fanned six in three innings and took the loss.

Seadogs 8, Panthers 5

The Seadogs managed eight runs while collecting just four hits off hard throwing Ryan Jones to capture game two. Ricky Smith was the winning pitcher with relief help from John Carlson and Dave Hutchins. Christian Callahan, Hutchins, Brendan Pierce and Shane Rossi collected the four Seadog hits.

 

11U GOLD

The 11U GOLDS split a doubleheader with the Central Mass Renegades at Mercer/Putnam on Sunday.

Seadogs 11, Renegades 10

Eric Peterson drilled a walk off single to score Brendan Smith to pace the Seadogs to an 11-10 win. Peterson pitched solidly for the first three innings of the game, and was relieved for the final three innings by Brendan Cornell, who picked up the win. Cornell kept the last inning rally alive with a single. Sam Rice drove in four runs with a single and double.

Renegades 10, Seadogs 8

Joe Divico threw a strong game for the Dogs. Brendan Cornell was a perfect four for four at the plate, and Chris DeGiacomo belted two hits, as did Sam Rice.

 

10U GOLD

The 10U GOLDS dropped their opening doubleheader to the NE Navigators on Sunday.

Navigators 10, Seadogs 3

Jack Ruprecht's bases loaded double in the third produced an early lead that the Dogs could not hold. The Navigators scored four runs in both the third and fourth innings. Starter Zack Silva (2 IP, 4 K's) was outstanding on the mound.

Navigators 8, Seadogs 3

The Navigators scored on a wild pitch to tie the game in the fifth and won in extra innings with five runs in the seventh. An RBI double by Jack Ruprecht and an RBI single by Cole Roland were key hits for the Seadogs. Dan Murray added two hits, a double and a run. Ruprecht and Sean Cornell limited the Navs to two runs over the first four innings.

 

 

14U

The 14U Seadogs lost twice to the Connecticut Bombers on Sunday.

Bombers 12, Seadogs 7

The Dogs led 7-2 after four but succumbed to poor defense in the opening loss. Will Sullivan homered, Chris Hoyt ripped a three-run double, Dan King dropped down a perfect squeeze bunt, Mike Baryski pitched well and added two hits but the Bombers prevailed.

Bombers 13, Seadogs 3

PJ McElroy's homerun and Jake Connelly's pitching were the lone bright spots in game two.

 

10U BLUE

The 10U BLUES won one of three games played at the Cal Ripken Complex in Aberdeen, Maryland over the weekend.

Maryland Cyclones 5, Seadogs 2

Austin LeBlanc's fourth inning homerun was the highlight for the Seadogs as it tied things up at two before the Cyclones (eventual tourney champ) battled for the win in this well pitched game. Tyler Bell, Brian Umano and Trevor Cooley shared mound duties. Defensive standouts included Umano at the hot corner and Zack DelVecchio behind the plate.

Seadogs 17, Setauket (NY) Patriots 6

The Seadogs' bats warmed up in game two as they banged out fourteen hits in the big Cal Ripken Stadium. Brian Umano's inside the park homerun was the biggest blow while Bryant Salkind added three hits including a triple. Jack Donius and Tyler Bell (triple) had two hits each while singletons were added by Bailey Steele, Cooley, Chris O'Brien, Brett Tivnan, DelVecchio (triple) and LeBlanc.

York (PA) Young Revolution 11, Seadogs 9

The hard hitting Revolution broke a nine all tie with two in the bottom of the fifth and held on to top the Dogs. The Revolution outhit the Seadogs 14-7. Jack Donius continued his season-long hot hitting with a double and a single.

"It was a great weekend for us. We played well as a team and it can only help us in the long run," Coach Scales stated calmly. "The facilities are awesome. We all took in the Phillies game Friday night on the way down. The kids and the parents were great."
