About AAU Baseball...

The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is a national organization established in 1983 to provide an additional national level of competition for players, coaches and families who otherwise might not ever have that opportunity.

The South Shore Baseball Club is a member club in the New England Association of the AAU organized to compete against other AAU member clubs across New England for the right to appear in the 2009 AAU Baseball National Championships.

Introducing the 2009 S.S.B.C. Seadogs

For the eighth year in a row and thirteenth season out of the last fourteen, players from the South Shore Baseball Club have been selected in the annual Major League Baseball Amateur Draft.

The SSBC Seadogs Travel Team Baseball Program will field teams in 2009 in the 10-and-Under (developmental), 11-and-Under, 12-and-Under, 13-and-Under, 14-and-Under, 15-and-Under and 16-and-Under Divisions. Ages 11 thru 16 will compete for berths at the AAU National Championships.

Whenever the talent warrants, we will field two teams per age group.

The South Shore Baseball Club will look to these teams in 2009 to build upon the Seadogs past years' accomplishments...

    Q. "How do I make the Seadogs?"
    A. The 2009 S.S.B.C. Seadogs baseball teams will be selected from a series of clinic/tryouts to be held in the fall of 2008. (See below)

    Q. "What about my town team?"
    A. Our program is not intended to replace but to supplement your local Little League, Babe Ruth, or American Legion baseball programs.

    Q. "How much does it cost?"
    A. The registration fee for the clinic/tryout is $75 for SSBC members and $100 for non-members and entitles each participant to attend all five workouts held for his age group. The total cost for participation will vary. There will be two levels of cost: one for those teams that travel to the Nationals and one those those teams that do not travel. More program expense information is provided once selected to the team. Also, a complete fund raising package is available to assist in defraying the costs.

    Q. "Where do the Seadogs play?"
    A. All Seadogs teams play locally and compete for the New England AAU Championship.

    Q. "How much travel is involved in the Seadogs program?"
    A. At least one Seadogs team in each age group will travel to the AAU National Championship.

    Q. "Do all teams travel to a National Tournament?"
    A. No, some Seadogs teams are designed to play locally and compete only for the New England AAU Championship.
